Tucked in on the Indian Ocean Coast, Mozambique offers a wide range of sporting activities. Hunter’s Horn Adventures searched long and hard to find an easily accessible and very productive saltwater fishing operation in this beautiful country. We found just that near the city of Inhambane with Haine’s Deep Sea Fishing Charter located on Makolo Bay at Barra Point. This area serves up marlin, sailfish, dorado and tuna in good numbers. Other species of note include king mackerel and many varieties of snapper and grouper. Inside the bay itself bonefish cruise the flats. Located just south of the Tropic of Capricorn temperatures range from the mid 70s into the 80s during the months of June through August. This is their winter. September through May you can expect temperatures climbing into the mid 90s. All this with a soothing breeze coming in off the ocean. Sugar-sand beaches lead from your bungalow directly to the ocean’s shore. Dhows ply the shallow inshore waters in the early morning. Local natives stroll the beaches selling fresh breads and fruits in the morning. In the afternoon they ply their crafts. None of the locals will be over-bearing or pestering, they are simply friendly people who enjoy showing off their goods. Our packages here come complete with daily fishing lodging, three meals each day plus high tea. Alcoholic beverages are not included but you’ll find these surprisingly inexpensive. Night life is available at the neighboring resorts. Or, simply sit back on the veranda of your bungalow and watch the moon rise over the ocean. The boats are well-maintained and the fishing gear is state-of-the-art Shimano. Cut bait and lures, along with live bait will be used. One of the best things about fishing here is that within five minutes of launching the boat you’ll be setting lines. Also, the bay is well protected when an errant wind comes in. There are very few ‘weather" days here. These packages are tailor-made for an add-on trip to your game safari. They are also perfect for a stand-alone big-game fishing adventure. You’ll be surprised at how inexpensive a four or eight day fishing trip is priced at. |
