South Africa

South Africa comprises the southern-most tip of the African continent. The land is comprised of deserts, tall mountains, vast grasslands, temperate jungle and more than enough forested areas. It has everything you think of when you think of the Africa landscape. It is comparable in size to the entire areas taken up by California, Washington, and Oregon, and then adding in Arizona for good measure.

Most of our hunting takes place in three of the country's provinces, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and Limpopo. The Free State is a huge grassland environment with ancient mountains punctuating the sky. KwaZulu-Natal has lesser grasslands but is big on hills, and seriously real mountains in the Drakensberg district.

Most all of the hunting is done on private concessions or game ranches. These vary in size but the concessions we utilize are no less than 10,000 acres in size. The private landowner in South Africa owns the animals found on their property. The landowners manage these game animals carefully to ensure that their "stocks" are not diminished.

Hunting in South Africa takes place all year long. Birds are the exception with the season running generally June through September.

South Africa is a plains game hunter's dream. It is not at all unusual for a hunter to see a dozen species in a day with a good number of true trophy heads. There are no "standard" days on a South African safari. You may hunt four or five days, or more than 20, it is completely up to you. We do recommend no less than seven hunting days with 10 or 16 being an even better bet in order for you to hunt different concessions and experience all this great country as to offer.
